Biden admin slows delivery of migrants in Texas after governor orders they be taken to DC on buses

Texas officials report that the Biden administration in many cities across the state stopped dropping off freed migrants after Gov. Greg Abbott ordered buses to take them to Washington, D.C of the country want to drive.

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) dispatched several buses to areas where community leaders have expressed concerns that the federal government would drop off migrants in their cities, TDEM spokesman Seth Christensen said in a written statement. He said Texas “has the ability to send that many [buses] as necessary to meet requests from mayors and county judges.”

“From the RGV to Terrell County, a large majority of communities that originally asked for assistance through this operation have now said that the federal government has stopped dropping off migrants in their cities since the governor’s announcement Wednesday,” Mr. Christensen added added.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday announced orders for state officials to charter buses to transport migrants to Washington, DC, in response to the Biden administration’s plans to end the Title 42 coronavirus protection protocol and to begin large-scale mass releases, Breitbart Texas reported.

“To help local officials whose communities are being overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants deposed by the Biden administration, Texas is providing charter buses to ship these illegal immigrants deposed by the Biden administration to Washington, DC .” Governor Abbott said during a news conference Wednesday afternoon in Weslaco, Texas. The governor said the first drop-off point will be the steps of the US Capitol in the nation’s capital. He added that from the migrants’ perspective, the bus rides are entirely voluntary.

“We’re taking them to the United States Capitol, where the Biden administration will be able to more directly address the needs of the people they allow to come across our border,” the governor added. The governor signed the letter to TDEM chief Nim Kid ordering the action.

“Texans have a backbone and a will to secure our border,” Abbott said. “Two things Joe Biden doesn’t have.”

In addition to the bus program, the governor also announced that the state will begin increased safety inspections of commercial vehicles crossing the border from Mexico.

“A zero-tolerance policy for unsafe vehicles used to smuggle migrants across the border will be implemented immediately,” the governor said.

Breitbart Texas reached out to DPS officials for initial results from the expanded security inspections. The department is not ready to release statistical data on the operation at this early stage, officials replied.

Texas officials also told Breitbart Saturday that the Texas Department of Defense and Department of Public Safety are already beginning lighting projects at border crossings currently used by people smugglers to move large groups of migrants across shallow water crossings.
