With eleven goals and six assists last season, Breel Embolo was one of the best scorers in Gladbach. The rumors about a possible change of club for the 25-year-old are currently becoming more and more concrete!
Gladbach: Breel Embolo before transfer to AS Monaco
Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Embolo is on the verge of a transfer to AS Monaco. First, “Sky” reported on the pending deal.
According to GladbachLIVE information, the change could soon be made official.
Embolo still has to complete the medical check at the France club.
There is a fee between eleven and twelve million euros in the room.
The Swiss national player’s contract in Gladbach expires on June 30, 2023.
Gladbach manager Roland Virkus (55) had not recently confirmed that Borussia should have a clause with which the club could have extended Embolo’s contract until 2024.
Embolo, who has been linked with Olympique Lyon in the past, is set to leave Monaco for the Principality.
The brawny Swiss is to form the new forward line at the Monegasques alongside Wissam Ben Yedder (31) and former Bundesliga star Kevin Volland (29).
With eleven goals and six assists during the past Gladbach season, Embolo had his best Bundesliga season to date.
Embolo was not used on Wednesday (July 13, 2022) in the friendly between Gladbach and third division team Viktoria Köln.
According to GladbachLIVE information, the 25-year-old did not play to rule out the risk of injury.
Embolo only watched the test match against Cologne as a spectator.
There has not yet been any official confirmation that the striker will switch to Ligue 1 after three seasons on the left bank of the Lower Rhine.
Gladbach trainer Daniel Farke (45) said on GladbachLIVE on Wednesday evening about the upcoming Embolo departure: “We’ll see what happens. That’s not my issue at all. I work with realities. Everything else is an issue for the club and the player himself and his advisors. I can only say that Breel has presented himself very well in the past few days, is in good shape, has trained very well and we will see everything else.”
Farke said that Embolo was only there as a spectator against Cologne: “We are currently playing with a very large squad and always decide at short notice which players we will take with us. It was clear that the national players would get one or two breaks. Breel already played in the first game in the training camp at Tegernsee. But with Breel there’s a little something behind the scenes and we felt like the players that are fully focused on the game should be playing today. And when you train hard and have a few other things on your mind, it doesn’t make that much sense to be on the pitch because then you also risk getting injured. But we have to wait and see how things develop over the next few days.”
GladbachLIVE forecast: The Swiss national player Breel Embolo will most likely leave Borussia Mönchengladbach now.
There are still final details to be clarified, including the medical check in Monaco. If nothing else comes up, the two clubs should soon be able to report completion.
The fact that Gladbach sports director Roland Virkus claimed a few days ago that there would be no concrete offer for Embolo – given.
The events surrounding the attacker are also being closely monitored at Embolo’s former club Schalke 04 these days.
To date, Embolo is still the most expensive purchase in the history of the Schalke club. In 2016, the royal blue paid a transfer fee of 26.5 million euros for the attacker to FC Basel.
According to GladbachLIVE information, Schalke agreed a resale clause with Borussia in July 2019, when Embolo then switched to Gladbach for eleven million euros.
Means: If the deal between Gladbach and Monaco is official, Schalke 04 will apparently also collect again.
A participation in the range of up to 20 percent should be in the room.
That has not yet been confirmed.
Embolo’s market value is currently 15 million euros.
