Kirby Developer Reveals 3D Gaming May Not Be Series’ Future

Kirby’s move to 3D in Kirby and The Forgotten Land isn’t necessarily a direction future games will follow, developers at HAL Laboratories say.

Kirby and the forgotten land is one of the most innovative games in the franchise that takes the pink puffball to the third dimension. However, the developers at HAL Laboratory say that 3D will not necessarily be the standard for kirby games ahead.

The newest game in the franchise, Kirby and the forgotten land brings Kirby to a 3D world never seen before in the series. Kirby and the Waddle Dees were sucked into an abandoned town through a wormhole. Kirby must rescue all of the Waddle Dees so they can rebuild their destroyed city.

HAL Laboratory Director General Shinya Kumazaki said in an interview with The Washington Post that 3D kirby Games will not necessarily be the standard in the future. He goes on to say that Nintendo is on the same page as HAL on this issue and “we hope to go beyond what is currently imaginable and challenge ourselves to create new and innovative things kirby Games”.
