MLB The Show 22 hits shelves on April 5th, but Xbox users have the option to play the game early and also enjoy some great perks.
For the second time in a row MLB The Show 22 will be available on Xbox Game Pass, except this time it’s a featured day one release. Last year, MLB The Show 21 became playable for all Xbox users and moved away from its PlayStation exclusivity of previous years.
This year’s edition comes with a few benefits, including one MLB The Show 22 will be available for purchase with the official launch on April 5th. The other is an offer for Game Pass members to purchase the game in Early Access at a reduced price compared to buying the game at full price.
While the game will be free starting April 5th, Xbox users will have the option to pay $49.99 to get the game four days early, and it will be available on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions will be accessible. The offer has its perks, which mostly revolve around the in-game content that players can collect. purchase MLB The Show 22 earlier allows players to jump into the game a full 96 hours before anyone else, but it also grants each player two Gold Choice Packs, ten Show Packs, a Ballplayer Pack, along with Double Daily Login rewards and 10,000 Stubs. For those who enjoy The Show’s online modes and item collecting, the additional content is a must for early game progression.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise to Game Pass users, as Microsoft has been testing this idea before ForzaHorizon 5. In October 2021, the developer released the game to its player base four days ahead of schedule as part of an Early Access promotion. Similar to MLB The Show 22Purchasing the game at a discounted price came with a bundle of game content including a welcome pack, car pass, VIP membership and two game expansions that were not available at the time but were scheduled to be released at a later date. ForzaHorizon 5 became a huge success, and the Early Access edition was praised by Game Pass users at the time.
One area of concern, however, is the fact that games released on Xbox Game Pass are only available to users for free as long as the title remains on the service. Users might breathe easier knowing that last year’s edition stayed on Game Pass all year, and that might be the case this time too. MLB The Show 22 is less than a week after its official release, which will also be available for the first time on Nintendo Switch, and is shaping up to be a game that baseball fans should not miss. For online mode players, it might be worth paying a bit more for the early access bundle, especially with the extra game time.
MLB The Show 22 will be released on April 5th for PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
