On Tuesday at prime time, RTL launched a new season of “The King of the Children’s Heads”: This time again, three celebrities compete in different games for the stupid crown. Comedian Chris Tall was actually scheduled, but a foot operation made his participation impossible. Oliver Pocher stepped in for him, who was there in the first season, but was not originally intended for the current round. Competitors were Guido Cantz and Martin Rütter.
However, it is already becoming apparent that the format is having a difficult time in the new attempt. Critical comments on social media increased on Tuesday evening. The allegations: lack of creativity and boredom.
Pocher and Co. bore the RTL viewers
One moderates, the other two duel and in the next programs the positions are swapped – that’s the concept behind “King of the Grown-Ups”. As the title suggests, goofs and glitches should be welcome here, but the entertainment factor could have been higher, at least on Tuesday night.
The show was recorded in March, so it wasn’t live, which had a clearly negative impact on this user. “Boring, without breakdowns and spontaneous situations,” is the disappointed verdict. In fact, there were several extraordinary scenes in the first season. For example, Chris Tall had to stop a game because of his fear of heights, the comedian even cried and he had to be calmed down by Oliver Pocher.
“King of the Children’s Heads” also reminded some users of the successful game shows on ProSieben, but not in a positive way either. The comment “Ordered ‘Beat the Star’ from Wish” pretty much sums up the mood on social media.
This user goes even further and speculates: “Can it be that 95 percent of ‘The King of Children’s Heads’ was stolen from ProSieben shows?”
Incidentally, another viewer speculated in a tweet on June 27 that RTL would get into trouble with the show, and spoke of a “rating flop with an announcement”.
In the end, Martin Rütter got the day’s win of the show, who has thus created a good starting position for the coming editions. Now it remains to be seen whether Oliver Pocher will be able to catch up – or whether he will be left behind again. In any case, one thing is certain when it comes to the viewers: Even big names like him don’t always guarantee the best television entertainment. However, it is also questionable whether it is only due to the absence of Chris Tall that “King of the Grown Ups” is disappointing.
For a long time it was quiet about hit star Helene Fischer. The 37-year-old became a mother at the end of last year and has since withdrawn from the public. Helene did not let anything be heard from her social media channels either – much to the annoyance of her fans.
