My company has been developing apps for 3 years, and let me tell you, it’s never been easier since there are APIs. It has helped us stay productive, work with useful data, innovate – the list goes on. But I’m not here to talk endlessly about the benefits of APIs, so let’s get straight to the point.

Here are some popular APIs my company has used for various businesses:

  • Alexa Skill Management API: Use it to create, manage and test new skills for Alexa – Amazon’s intelligent digital assistant and expand their skills.
  • Google Assistant API: Allows you to embed Google’s smart assistant in a range of devices.
  • Salesforce Einstein Language API: Used to analyze text from different sources and classify it based on sentiment.
  • Anaconda API: This Python supported API is a scalable and secure enterprise class API used to control data science assets.
  • REST Countries API: Retrieves information about any country in the world. Get access to information like capital, currency, language and more!
  • polygon API: Helps to work with finance-related data as it can source data like stock prices, historical performance, etc. It also works with cryptocurrencies.
  • Associated Press API: If you want to integrate real-time news and alerts from reliable sources.
  • API: To voice activate your website using the text-to-speech feature. Responsive Voice API is an alternative to
  • Amazon Selling Partner API: It offers all legacy features available on the Amazon Market Web Services.
  • PredictionOK: Used by developers and data scientists to build predictive models using machine learning.
  • Plaid API: To allow users to link their bank accounts without sharing information on the platform.
  • GIPHY API: If you want to add GIPHY’s entire GIF library.
  • Spotify API: Play music, share artist/band details, discover music, create playlists and more!

Now for the other part of the question, how can they be improved with AI? Well, this is where it gets interesting.

Technologies like AI and ML make the API smarter in more ways than one. First of all, AI can contribute to and streamline the API design process. Additionally, you can use AI to set up rule-based triggers based on preset conditions used from historical API data. Similarly, AI engines can automatically manage thresholds and adjust them to pattern-based values to increase efficiency. And it goes without saying that once you’ve taken the human element out of the picture, there’s less opportunity for error and inaccuracy.

However, apart from routine API management, AI can be very useful to strengthen API security. The various authentication measures, throttling features, and static security checks fill in the gaps in the API’s armor.

All in all, it would be the same advantages of API – only better! I would say the introduction of AI into API is nothing less than a transformative change in development!
