Donald Trump came to Michigan to once again boast of an award no news organization has been able to confirm exists.
The year-old president told the crowd at the Michigan Stars Sports Center in Washington Township that he won the state’s Man of the Year award two years ago.
“They named me Michigan Man of the Year,” Trump said.
“I stood up and said, ‘You’re stealing your car business,'” the president told Saturday’s rally. “And I really got rebuked. However, that wasn’t very nice to say. But the truth is that I was right. That’s a long time ago, Michigan man of the year. We’ve actually been doing these things for a long time.”
Although how insider According to reports, there appears to be no such award. A Detroit News The list of “Michigans of the Year” makes no mention of Mr. Trump. The newspaper investigated the matter in 2019 and reported that Mr Trump had made the false claim at least six times since 2016. “Nobody in Michigan seems to know what they’re talking about,” he said Detroit News reported.
During Saturday’s rally, Mr Trump also claimed Vladimir Putin would never have invaded Ukraine if he were still in the White House.
Mr Trump, he was surprised by the Kremlin’s attack on Ukraine and admitted he thought Mr Putin was just negotiating a ‘big deal’.
“I thought he was going to negotiate. He had 150,000 troops on the border, I thought he was going to do a great deal,” Mr Trump told the rally.
And Mr Trump insisted Moscow pushed ahead with its unprovoked invasion of its neighbor because of the way US troops left Afghanistan last August.
“I think when he (Putin) saw what happened in Afghanistan, the way we walked, we didn’t want to have any soldiers killed there in 18 months, I told Abdul that none of our soldiers will be killed anymore. For 18 months, not a single person was killed, and Biden actually said so,” he said.
“Then we lost 13, but they don’t talk about how horribly so many of them were wounded. This invasion of Ukraine would never have happened if I had been in the White House, never would have happened, never.
“I knew Putin very well, and you know they say, ‘Oh, he knows Putin,’ that’s a good thing, a good thing, not a bad thing. I know Kim Jong-un, I know President Xi of China and you know we didn’t have a conflict, remember?”
Mr Trump then added that the Taliban had now abandoned $85 billion worth of US military equipment in the swift departure from the country, and suggested that America “maybe should go in and take it back”.
He then mocked Joe Biden for his “mental and physical decline” to roars of approval from his supporters.
“I don’t think we’ve ever had a time in our country where we’ve felt so down and down. We are living through the most dangerous time of our lives and we have a President who has no idea what is going on, what he is doing, what he is saying or where he is. Otherwise he’s doing an excellent job,” he said.
“There may be nothing we can do to prevent Joe Biden’s mental and physical decline, but with your vote this November, we can stop our country’s decline and make America great again.”
Mr Trump also turned his attention to White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, who was reported to be leaving the Biden administration to join MSNBC.
He described Ms Psaki as “the woman with the really beautiful red hair” and claimed the news network was trying to hire her because they needed a redhead in their cast.
